When two Perth based brothers Frank and Carl Cardaci bought a single truck in 1968 their sole intention was to fix it up and sell it to make some money. That was until they were asked to deliver a piece of equipment to the northern parts of Western Australia some 1500kms away from Perth. That purchase was the genesis of what has now become Australia’s largest independent transport and logistics company.

Three years later in 1971 after being awarded a number of contracts, the brothers founded Centurion, so named to encapsulate their then vision of owning and operating 100 trucks. They soon achieved this lofty aspiration and today, Centurion owns and operates more than 2,000 vehicle assets, travelling the distance to the moon and back every week providing essential goods for a number of industries and regions in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Northern NSW and Queensland.

Since its foundation, Centurion has invested in developing one of the most extensive logistics networks throughout Australia with regional distribution centres in Brisbane, Broome, Carnarvon, Darwin, Derby, Emerald, Kalgoorlie, Karratha, Kununurra, Mackay, Newman, Perth, Port Hedland, Rockhampton, Tom Price and Townsville.

To build value and capability in the business Centurion has also made a number of strategic investments including the acquisition of Brambles in 1999, Hampton’s Transport in 2010 and OGT in 2011, a move that underpinned Centurion’s entry into the oil and gas industry.

One of the keys to Centurion’s success over the past 50 years has been our ability to anticipate shifts in the market and make strategic investments that allow us to meet clients’ future needs. In keeping with this entrepreneurial spirit, Centurion has recently undertaken several facility related investments.

Centurion is part of the CFC Group of companies. Find out more about CFC Group here.
